Studio Policies

Please review the following policies to ensure a smooth and productive learning experience.


No registration or annual fees.

  • Monthly tuition is available for school-age students only.

  • Adult students are accepted on a single-lesson basis only.

  • Accepted payment methods: Zelle or cash.

  • Monthly tuition is due at the beginning of each month before the first lesson.

  • Single lessons must be paid by Zelle no later than the day before the lesson, or in cash before the lesson begins.

  • Late payments incur a $20 fee.

  • Monthly tuition is based on four lessons per month. A fifth lesson, when applicable, is included at no additional charge or may be used as a skip week.

  • Summer lessons (June–July) are billed per session, based on one-fourth of the regular monthly tuition.

  • Additional costs such as recitals, accompanist fees, and music books are the student’s responsibility.

  • Monthly tuition is offered from August through May. Students who begin lessons mid-month are generally charged at the single-lesson rate until the following month.

Cancellations & Make-Ups

  • Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations.

  • Up to two make-up lessons per month may be offered for lessons canceled with at least 24 hours’ notice, subject to mutual availability.

  • Make-up credits expire 30 days after issuance.

  • No refunds will be given for missed or canceled lessons.

  • A 30-day notice is required to discontinue lessons, and tuition remains due during the notice period.

Attendance & Behavior

  • Students are expected to arrive on time and be prepared with all necessary materials.

  • All students must wash their hands with soap and water before lessons.

  • Shoes must be removed, and socks must be worn in the studio.

  • For safety and legal reasons, parents must drop off and pick up children within five minutes of the lesson start and end times.

  • Family members are not permitted inside the studio.

  • Students are expected to behave respectfully and remain focused during lessons.

Practice & Materials

  • Daily Practice
    Consistent, focused daily practice is essential for progress and retention.

  • Three-Ring Binder with Plastic Sheet Protectors
    Required for all voice students and for piano students at Level 1 and above to keep sheet music organized.

  • Metronome
    Required for piano students preparing for school auditions. A physical metronome or a free app is acceptable.

  • Tablet or Apple Device
    Used by beginner piano students to access the Piano Adventures Player app or online audio.

Instrument Requirements

  • 2-Month Beginner Piano Course
    A keyboard with full-size keys is acceptable for home practice during the course.

  • Ongoing Piano Students
    An acoustic piano or a digital piano with 88 weighted keys and a sustain pedal is required.

  • Piano Students Preparing for School Auditions
    An acoustic piano in excellent condition is required.

  • Voice Students
    Access to a keyboard or piano for home practice is recommended.

Performances

  • Studio recitals are held twice a year, and students are expected to perform.

  • Spring and Winter Studio Recitals are considered part of the instructional program and serve as performance assessments demonstrating each student’s progress.

  • Formal attire is required for recital performances.

  • Students who miss multiple lessons leading up to a recital may not be eligible to perform.

  • Selected students may be invited to participate in competitions, evaluations, or other events.

Communication

  • You are welcome to contact me by email or text with any questions or concerns.

  • Studio photos or videos may be used for promotional purposes unless you request otherwise.

Dismissal Policy

Nana Morimoto Piano & Voice Studio reserves the right to dismiss any student for the following reasons:

  • Repeatedly coming to lessons unprepared

  • Late or missed tuition payments

  • Frequent absences without notice

  • Disrespectful or uncooperative behavior by the student or parent

  • Failure to follow practice instructions or demonstrate consistent effort

  • Repeatedly forgetting required books or materials
