Studio Policies

Please review the following policies to ensure a smooth and productive learning experience.


Payments

  • No registration or annual fees.

  • Monthly tuition is available for school-age students only. Adult students are accepted on a single-lesson basis only.

  • Accepted payment methods are Zelle or cash.

  • Monthly tuition is due at the beginning of each month before the first lesson.

  • Single lessons must be paid by Zelle no later than the day before the lesson, or in cash before the lesson begins.

  • Late payments incur a $20 fee.

  • Monthly tuition is based on four lessons per month. A fifth lesson, when applicable, is included at no additional charge or may be used as a skip week.

  • Summer lessons are billed per session during June and July, based on one-fourth of the regular monthly tuition.

  • Additional costs such as recitals, accompanist fees, and music books are the student’s responsibility.

  • Monthly tuition is offered from August through May for students enrolled in regular weekly lessons at the beginning of the studio year.

  • Students who begin lessons after August are charged the single-lesson rate for the remainder of the current studio year. Monthly tuition may begin the following August.

Cancellations & Make-Ups

  • Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations.

  • Up to two make-up lessons per month may be offered for lessons canceled with at least 24 hours’ notice, subject to mutual availability.

  • Make-up lessons may be offered for lessons canceled with at least 24 hours’ notice, subject to mutual availability. Make-up credits expire 30 days after issuance.

  • No refunds will be given for missed or canceled lessons.

  • A 30-day notice is required to discontinue lessons, and tuition remains due during the notice period.

Attendance & Behavior

  • Students are expected to arrive on time and be prepared with all necessary materials.

  • All students must wash their hands with soap and water before lessons.

  • Shoes must be removed, and socks must be worn in the studio.

  • For safety and legal reasons, students should arrive at the scheduled lesson start time, and parents must be ready to pick them up promptly when the lesson ends.

    Please do not drop students off early or leave them waiting outside after the lesson.

  • Family members are not permitted inside the studio.

  • Students are expected to behave respectfully and remain focused during lessons.

  • For the health and safety of all students, please do not attend lessons when the student is sick, has a fever, vomiting, contagious symptoms, or is otherwise unwell.

Practice & Materials

  • Daily Practice
    Consistent, focused daily practice is essential for progress and retention.

  • Three-Ring Binder with Plastic Sheet Protectors
    Required for all voice students and for piano students at Level 1 and above to keep sheet music organized.

  • Metronome
    Required for piano students preparing for school auditions. A physical metronome or a free app is acceptable.

  • Tablet or Apple Device
    Used by beginner piano students to access the Piano Adventures Player app or online audio.

Instrument Requirements

  • 2-Month Beginner Piano Course
    A keyboard with full-size keys is acceptable for home practice during the course.

  • Ongoing Piano Students
    An acoustic piano or a digital piano with 88 weighted keys and a sustain pedal is required.

  • Piano Students Preparing for School Auditions
    An acoustic piano in excellent condition is required.

  • Voice Students
    Access to a keyboard or piano for home practice is recommended.

Performances

  • Studio recitals are held twice a year. Participation is expected for school-age students and optional for adults.

  • Spring and Winter Studio Recitals are considered part of the instructional program and serve as performance assessments demonstrating each student’s progress.

  • Formal attire is required for recital performances.

  • Students who miss multiple lessons leading up to a recital may not be eligible to perform.

  • Selected students may be invited to participate in competitions, evaluations, or other events.

Communication & Media

  • You are welcome to contact me by email or text with any questions or concerns.

  • Studio photos or videos may be used for promotional purposes unless a parent, guardian, or adult student requests otherwise in writing.

Dismissal Policy

Nana Morimoto Piano & Voice Studio reserves the right to dismiss any student for the following reasons:

  • Repeatedly coming to lessons unprepared

  • Late or missed tuition payments

  • Frequent absences without notice

  • Disrespectful or uncooperative behavior by the student or parent

  • Failure to follow practice instructions or demonstrate consistent effort

  • Repeatedly forgetting required books or materials
